Family History Project

My name is Lauren Stubbs.  This is a project I completed about my family history. I gained a lot of knowledge through doing this project, and I was surprised at a lot of the information I learned. I had many ways of gathering information for this project.  To get started, I interviewed my mom.  I then interviewed my grandma.  They gave me some very helpful information, but I still needed more.  To get more information from my dad's side of the family, I e-mailed him. With all of this information, I was able to make a family tree using Family Echo.  I was also able to make a Prezi, Infographic, and a 5-Frame Storyboard using all the information I gathered.
This is the Prezi I created from my family history:

This is my Family History Inforgraphic:
I also made a 5-frame storyboard.  This is of my brother looking through a photo album.

I agree with this video.  It shows how unsocial our society has come, and how it needs to change.  We all need to stop texting, tweeting, and posting and start living our lives so we can experience the world and the people in it.  We don't want to regret what we didn't do when we are old, so we should start living out lives without as much technology and with more people.

Read THIS blog post by a teacher. I mean actually read it. Take it in. Think about it. And then, write about it. What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is.

I think this teacher's blog post is very motivational. I makes me want to work harder at everything.   It also shows what the most important thing in school is.  He is trying to tell students to not quit, and to work harder not just on school work, but also in "the main event of school".  I think that this main event is what we are really in school for.  We are in school to learn, but also for the bigger picture.  The bigger picture is how to solve problems in life, how to get back up after something bad happens, and how to respect.

Reflect on your stop-motion animation project. How did it go? What worked? What didn't work? If you're not finished - why? If you are finished go in to detail about the project and what you learned.

I think my stop-motion video is good.  It didn't take me long to do and it was fun to see the end result.  I thought that Movie Maker was easy to use.  If I did this project again, I would use something to keep my camera steady instead of just trying to keep my hand still.  My video is about 35 seconds and it has about 180 pictures in it.

What is your idea for your stop-motion animation? Explain yourself. Have you started taking photos? If not, when do you plan to take your photos? What is your action plan for today? What is your plan to GET SOMETHING DONE?

For my stop-motion animation, I am going to do something with paper.  I am not sure yet what exactly I will do, bu i am going to think more about this and figure out an idea during this class period.  I will also start taking pictures today, if not in class, then at home.

What is stop motion animation? If you don't know, look it up! Explain.

Stop motion animation is using pictures to make a movie.  You take a lot of pictures and together it makes a short movie.

Tell me about your 5 frame storyboard. What did you like about the project? What did you dislike? Was it hard to fit a story in to 5 images? Do you think you tell a clear story? What would you do differently if you could? Explain.

My 5 frame storyboard is of my brother playing basketball.  It was easy and fun to make, and it is an engaging way to tell a story.  One thing I don't like about this project was not using words.  For m, it wasn't hard to tell a story in five pictures.  I think my story was clear and the point got across.  If I had more time, I probably would have been able to come up with a more creative story.
